Nigerian rapper Speed Darlington has stirred widespread reactions after advising men against marrying women who earn more than them, arguing that such financial imbalance could threaten submission in marriage.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the controversial artiste claimed that women who are wealthier than their partners would struggle to be submissive. Although he admitted he has never been married, Speed Darlington insisted that affluent women often only pretend to be submissive to secure marriage.

“You cannot tell me that a woman that is worth multi millions will be submissive to her husband.

“I don’t believe that. Power does not like to submit. I am not very rich but I am still proud of the little I have.

“Now, imagine a wealthy woman who has house in Lagos and in the village, she definitely can’t be submissive. she can say that to just get married but deep down, she will never be submissive,” he claimed.

The rapper further warned that relationships could face serious challenges if a woman earns more than her partner, urging men to strive to remain financially ahead in their relationships.

“There will be issues if your woman makes more money than you as a man. It is going to be a problem. Try your best as a man to not allow your woman to be richer than you. If she does, she will be aggressive and never be submissive,” the rapper claimed.

Darlington also revealed his personal preference for women who are submissive and supportive rather than wealthy and independent. According to him, a submissive woman would naturally support her partner, while a rich and independent woman would see the relationship as a competition.
