Award-winning Nigerian artiste Ayodeji Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has entered the record books after becoming the first African musician to cross the 10-billion-stream mark on Spotify.
The singer, fondly called the Ojuelegba crooner, reached the milestone through cumulative streams from all his credited works on the global music streaming platform.
His biggest-performing track on Spotify is his collaboration with Canadian rapper Drake and British singer Tyla, which has generated close to four billion streams.

Among songs where he appears as the lead artiste, ‘Essence’ featuring Tems stands out as his highest-streamed track, with more than 333 million streams.
In a related development, American pop star Billie Eilish has also set a new Spotify record as her song ‘Birds Of A Feather’ overtook Tones and I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ to become the most streamed solo song by a female artist in the platform’s history.
‘Birds Of A Feather’ recently climbed to 3.37 billion streams, edging past ‘Dance Monkey’, which stands at 3.3 billion streams.
