Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to intensify grassroots mobilisation, setting a bold target of one million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
He gave the charge on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House in Akure, convened to map out strategies ahead of the party’s zonal congresses and National Convention.
Addressing party leaders and pre-delegates, Aiyedatiwa outlined key dates for the party’s leadership transition.
He said the zonal congress would take place on 25 March 2026, while the National Convention is scheduled for 28–29 March 2026.
The governor revealed that a “unity list” had emerged after consultations with national stakeholders.
He encouraged members to embrace the consensus approach, noting that it aligns with the party’s constitution and had worked effectively in previous ward, local government and state congresses.

Aiyedatiwa emphasised that elections are decided at the grassroots level, not online. .He urged party members to prioritise ward-level engagement, voter mobilisation and membership registration.
“Go to the wards and polling units — that is where the votes are. Elections are not won on social media or through hype,” he said.
He added that recent amendments to the Electoral Act have strengthened internal party processes, making primary elections largely an internal affair with minimal external interference.

The governor described his administration as a product of collective effort and called for continued unity within the party.
Echoing his remarks, the state APC chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, said the party remained inclusive.
“There are no winners or losers in the APC,” he said, adding that repositioning the party ahead of 2027 requires a united front.
The meeting attracted several top government officials and party leaders, including Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami, federal lawmakers Abiola Makinde and Jimi Odimayo, and former Deputy Governor Abdulazeez Oluboyo, among others.
