2027: Tuggar unveils Bauchi guber bid, promises economic reform, workers’ welfare

Ex-minister of foreign affairs Yusuf Tuggar has set out his vision ahead of the 2027 Bauchi State governorship election.

In a statement posted on his X page on Monday, he described his ambition as a call to “humble service” focused on economic renewal and restoring dignity to workers.

Campaigning under the banner #Tuggar4Bauchi2027, the diplomat-turned-politician presented a broad development plan aimed at repositioning the state for sustainable growth and greater competitiveness.

At the heart of his agenda is a renewed focus on agriculture, which he described not just as a way of life but as the backbone of food security and economic expansion in the state.

To drive this forward, he pledged investment in infrastructure, particularly projects designed to open up rural communities and improve the movement of goods and services across Bauchi.

Tuggar also addressed long-standing concerns around civil service welfare, promising the prompt and consistent payment of salaries and gratuities.

He stressed that safeguarding the financial wellbeing of workers remains central to his vision, describing it as key to restoring dignity and trust in public service.

Ambition

Looking ahead, he outlined plans to build a more technology-driven and inclusive economy.

His proposals include greater adoption of ICT to support innovation and governance, alongside reforms in healthcare and education to improve access and quality of services.

He also highlighted targeted empowerment initiatives for women and young people, aimed at boosting self-reliance and creating wider economic opportunities.

“My mission is to improve the overall well-being of every citizen of Bauchi State through responsive and people-centred governance,” he said.

He framed his aspiration as one rooted in inclusion and practical impact.
