Since Netflix first launched its streaming services in Nigeria in 2016, countless movies have graced the platform. We have seen stellar performances and heart-wrenching storylines. From Fifty to Soólé, here are five Naija movies you absolutely need to watch on Netflix.
1. The Bling Lagosians
Off the top of my head, the first film I’d recommend to anyone is The Bling Lagosians. This is a personal favorite. The pomp, the extravagance, the drama; are all Nigerian. The movie examines the life of Akin Holloway and his family. Akin is a big spender. Thus, it is this tragic flaw that leads him, his family, and the company he inherited into bankruptry. The story revolves around infidelity, fake friendships and love.
2. Road to Yesterday
Genevieve Nnaji has a major role in this story. That is all the reason you need to watch this. Road to Yesterday follows the story of an estranged couple who attempt to fix their marital woes on a road trip to attend a funeral.

3. Blood Sisters
This is a four-part series and like most new releases, there was a lot of hype attached to it. I’m here to tell you that it’s lived up to the hype. Sarah is about to get married to Kola Ademola when her best friend kills him in an act of self-defense.
4. King of Boys
My first encounter with a Nollywood thriller was with this movie. Eniola, a gangsta criminal, struggles to regain and retain power. But her criminal past keeps rearing its ugly head. The most striking feature about this film is that it has a strong female lead.
5. Anikulapo
If you are active on Twitter then you must have heard of Anikulapo. Meet Saro; a talented young man who allows his greed and lust take over his life.
Bonus rec: Fifty
It was the first movie on Netflix Naija. That should count for something.
