Chuba Akpom is set to make his move to Ipswich Town permanent following their return to the English top flight. The deal marks a key moment in the club’s rebuilding process.
The forward will officially join Ipswich Town on a permanent basis from Ajax on July 1, 2026 as a mandatory clause in his loan agreement has now been triggered.
The 30-year-old will commit to a long-term future at the club, as he is expected to sign a three-year contract after completing his loan spell.
Limited impact but long-term faith in forward’s experience
During his 2025/26 loan, Akpom made 29 appearances and scored two goals. However, he started just seven matches across the campaign.

His last start came in a 3-0 win over Oxford United on New Year’s Day, and that performance remains his most notable contribution.
