The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a rallying cry to its members and presidential hopefuls to maintain strict discipline and unity as the party heads into its high-stakes presidential primaries scheduled for Monday.
In a press statement released on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, characterised the upcoming exercise as a โdefining democratic momentโ for a nation in search of a credible political alternative.
He said the ADC positioned itself as a unique player in the Nigerian political landscape, asserting that its methodology for selecting a flagbearer sets it apart from rival parties.

โThe ADC remains proud to stand today as the only truly democratic party in Nigeria, because it is the only political party whose choice of Presidential candidate is determined through open primaries,โ he said.

Abdullahi noted that the party leadership emphasised that the conduct of delegates, aspirants, and their supporters will serve as a direct reflection of the leadership culture the ADC intends to offer the Nigerian electorate.
He urged members to act with dignity, responsibility, and a firm commitment to the rule of law.

Recognising that internal contests can often lead to friction, Abdullahi noted that disagreements are natural but must be secondary to the party’s broader objective of “rescuing Nigeria” and restoring trust in governance.
He maintained that regardless of the outcome, the party must remain an indivisible unit.
โAt the end of this exercise, there will be no winners or losers within the ADC family,” Abdullahi stated.
“The ultimate objective is to emerge stronger, more united, and fully prepared to offer Nigerians the competent and credible leadership they deserve.”
He added that the ADC management reassured all stakeholders that comprehensive measures are in place to guarantee a free, fair, and transparent primary.
