Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has explained the reason behind his decision to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) instead of seeking elective office in his home state.
Speaking on Channels TV, Ike said his initial plan was to pursue his political ambition in his state of origin.
However, he disclosed that several people approached him and urged him to consider representing Abuja instead.

According to him, the calls became stronger as more individuals continued to encourage him to take up the challenge in the nation’s capital.
He said those who reached out to him believed his involvement was needed in Abuja and repeatedly appealed to him to join the political race there.

The actor stated that although he was already making plans to contest in his state, he took time to listen to the concerns and issues raised by those who wanted him to run in the FCT.
After considering their arguments and the needs they presented, he decided to redirect his focus to Abuja.
Ike explained that he became interested in contributing to the development of the Federal Capital Territory and helping to address issues affecting residents of the city.
He added that Abuja, being the nation’s capital, requires proper attention, protection and effective representation.
He said, โI actually wanted to run in my state, but a couple of people came to me; it was like a clarion call. People came to me and told me, โsir, you need to do this now, we need you in Abuja.
