West Ham defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka has earned his first senior national team call-up with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo).
The 27-year-old defender will join the Leopards for two international friendlies in June.
Wan-Bissaka had previously featured for DR Congo’s under-20 side back in 2015. However, he later chose to represent England at various youth levels.
Now, nearly a decade later, the right-back is set to make his senior debut for the African nation. DR Congo faces a tricky test against Mali on June 5, 2025, followed by a clash with Madagascar just three days later.

Wan-Bissaka’s club career has unfolded entirely in England, beginning at Crystal Palace. His rise at Palace paved the way for a big move to Manchester United in 2019.
During his five-year stint at Old Trafford, Wan-Bissaka made 190 appearances and collected silverware along the way. He helped the Red Devils win the FA Cup and EFL Cup and started a Europa League final too.
In 2024, the defender signed for West Ham, seeking a fresh challenge after his eventful years with United. Despite switching clubs, he remained consistent and reliable in England’s top flight.
This international call-up is a significant moment in Wan-Bissaka’s career. It also offers DR Congo a defensive boost as they gear up for the crucial matches.
With his experience at the highest level, Wan-Bissaka’s inclusion brings added steel and composure to the Leopards’ squad.
