Tottenham, Atlético and Galatasaray battle for Ademola Lookman as Atalanta drop his price ahead of a decisive January transfer window.

Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is set to become one of the most sought-after attackers in the January transfer window. Both Tottenham Hotspur and Atlético Madrid preparing renewed approaches after failing to sign him last summer.

The Premier League and La Liga giants had monitored Lookman closely during the last window. However, their proposals fell short of Atalanta’s expectations at the time. Consequently, both sides are now expected to return with stronger offers.

Galatasaray currently remain the front-runners for his signature as the Turkish champions push aggressively for a deal. Additionally, reports indicate the Istanbul club have offered a lucrative €9 million-per-year contract to Lookman’s representatives. Therefore, their financial commitment places them ahead of other suitors.

Lookman is also reportedly open to playing alongside fellow Nigerian star Victor Osimhen at RAMS Park. Moreover, the idea of forming a strong Nigerian duo in Turkey appeals to him personally and professionally. This interest therefore strengthens Galatasaray’s negotiating position.

The winger was eager to move to Inter Milan during the summer window. However, that switch collapsed despite his push to join Atalanta’s Serie A rivals. Consequently, his future has remained a subject of speculation across Europe.

Atalanta consider January sale as price tag drops

According to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport, Atalanta’s hierarchy hope Lookman adapts well to new manager Raffaele Palladino.

Furthermore, they expect the coach’s system to help the player rediscover his best form. Yet the club may still consider a sale if his performances remain inconsistent.

Atalanta had previously valued Lookman at around €50 million. However, they are now willing to reduce that figure significantly to facilitate a January transfer. Consequently, the lowered valuation has encouraged more clubs to intensify their pursuit.

The Italian side’s openness to negotiation has alerted Tottenham and Atlético once again. Both teams are in need of attacking reinforcements ahead of a demanding second half of the season. Therefore, Lookman’s versatility and experience make him a prime winter target.

Lookman’s next destination remains uncertain but highly anticipated. Moreover, his decision will likely shape the strategies of several major clubs.
