Governor Ademola Adeleke has allayed fears among residents of Osun State regarding the rising wave of banditry in neighbouring states.
He declared that his administration has already implemented a robust action plan to secure the state’s borders.
In a statement issued on Saturday through his Spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor revealed that security agencies in the state have recorded significant successes.
He commended the Department of State Services (DSS) for the recent arrest of high-profile terrorists and the dismantling of their cells within Osun.
Addressing the growing security alarm in some quarters, Adeleke disclosed that a comprehensive security strategy has been under implementation for the past three weeks.
This plan focuses on preemptive measures to prevent the infiltration of criminal elements into Osun.
He noted that the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the DSS, the Chief of Defence Staff, and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have paid “particular supportive attention” to the state.
“The intelligence community already has a deep overview of security threats or otherwise in Osun. We cannot stop to commend the DSS for the arrests of high-profile terrorists and the bursting of their cells in Osun,” the governor stated.

He further directed the Amotekun security corps, local vigilantes, and hunter groups to work in close collaboration with the police and other lead agencies.
He emphasised that all operations must remain within established protocols.
He said special attention is also being paid to boundary communities and revealed that stakeholders have been engaged to strengthen vigilance against incursions.
Beyond security, Adeleke addressed other critical issues affecting the state’s governance.
Regarding the situation at the Local Government level, the governor called for patience and lawfulness, stating that all stakeholders are currently awaiting the ruling of the Supreme Court.
“We must remain law-abiding as we are all resolved not to take the law into our hands,” he insisted.
On the current impasse within the state judiciary, Adeleke expressed optimism that the arm of government would soon resolve its internal challenges.
He, however said he would respect the separation of powers and would not interfere in judicial matters.
The governor used the medium to thank the people of Osun for their unwavering support, assuring them that the administration remains focused on delivering democratic dividends.
He cited ongoing progress in the digital economy, worker welfare, infrastructure upgrades, agriculture, and water supply across various towns.
“I appreciate the deep support for our Administration among the Osun people. Your prayers and outpouring of encouraging messages strengthen our resolve not to waver despite challenges,” Adeleke added.
