Klint Da Drunk shares how 2Face’s campus performance made him abandon music for comedy

Nigerian comedian Klint Da Drunk has opened up about the moment he realised music was not his calling, explaining why he eventually embraced comedy instead.

Speaking in an interview with Naija FM Lagos, he recalled that he was actively pursuing music while studying at the Institute of Management Technology, IMT, Enugu. However, everything changed the day he watched 2Face, who was also a student at the time, deliver a performance on campus.

Klint said that encounter convinced him to walk away from music entirely.

He said, “I used to be a musician until 2Face got admitted to my school, IMT. One day when he got on stage to perform at an event on campus, I left the hall. The organisers pleaded with me to stay back and perform when he is done.

“I accepted but after hearing him sing just two lines, I went home. I didn’t know that my style and 2Face’s style were different. If I had known, I would continue making music. But thank God I didn’t continue. I like where I am.”

The comedian noted that he has no regrets, emphasising that comedy has brought him fulfillment.

Before fully transitioning to comedy, Klint Da Drunk featured on Mr Raw’s hit song Obodo and was part of a music group they formed together. The group placed second at the Star Quest talent show in 2002, finishing behind KC Presh.

Since switching careers, he has built a successful path in comedy and appeared in several Nollywood films, including Men On The Run, Madam 10/10, Fast Cash, and Lost Kingdom.
