Afrobeats star David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has revealed that he will step away from his music career for two months to focus on politics.
He made the decision to focus on the re-election bid of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the 2026 governorship poll.
He made this known on Tuesday in Ede, Osun State, during the launch of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilisation Team, a group set up to drive support for the governor at the grassroots level.

The singer, who heads the committee, said he decided to dedicate his time and influence to help secure victory in the coming election.

Davido explained that his decision goes beyond family ties, noting that he believes the governor still has more work to do in the state.
He stated that the mission now is to ensure that the administration continues by winning another term.
Speaking to members of the team, he called for strong participation, especially among young people, describing the youth-focused committee as a key part of the campaign effort.
He said the group has a major role in connecting with voters and spreading awareness about the government’s work.
He said: “I have put my musical career on hold for two months to come and work for my uncle, not only because he is my uncle but because he is doing a good job and still has more to accomplish. The job is not done,” he said.
“We are all here to support him to win the election with our influence. This is one of the most important committees because it focuses on youths.”
