Last weekend was filled with lots of trending celeb gist. Mercy Johnson-Okojie complained about her daughter being bullied in school. Over the weekend, Cubana Chief Priest accused BBN’s Maria of snatching his sister’s husband. This celeb gist is still on. These are some of the celebrity stories we tracked for you.

Mercy Johnson complained of daughter being bullied by teacher

One of the highly trending celebrity news was when Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson-Okojie complained that her daughter, Purity, was being bullied by her teacher in school. She said that the teacher told Purity that she does not like her mother. Hence, she treated her with contempt.

The movie star was not happy after her daughter cried to her that she wants to change her school. Mrs. Okojie posted the issue on her social media accounts which generated many reactions. Meanwhile, an Instagram user, @thenancychidera accused Mercy’s husband, Prince Odi Okojie of sending thugs to beat up the teacher. This made the mother-of-four to storm her daughter’s school, Chrisland Schools, to debunk the claim. @thenancychidera later apologized for her statements. She said she was misinformed. However, Chrisland Schools said they would look into the case.

Cubana Chief Priest accused BBN’s Maria of snatching his sister’s husband.

Celebrity barman, Cubana Chief priest has accused former BBNaija housemate, Maria, for allegedly snatching his sister’s husband. He wrote on his Instagram page: ‘’How on earth will you threaten a married woman who has a male and female offspring to leave her husband for you or die? You dey show person husband watch and car to pepper her. Kelvin, I am so ashamed of you, all of us dey street. You no carry woman pass anybody but we can never make home miserable for our woman; to the point a side chick calls your wife to threaten her life. If what you are doing is right, why are you covering your face in shame in this video? My own na make nothing happen to my sister.’’

Some persons have lambasted Maria for claiming that hard work is the reason for her success. Meanwhile, she was being bankrolled by a married man. Other persons said that the married man is to blame for neglecting his wife. Hence, people should leave Maria out of the issue.

Tacha shaded Maria

Former BBNaija housemate, Tacha Akide, has shaded Maria who was accused of snatching a married man. According to Cubana Chief Priest, Maria snatched his sister’s husband. Meanwhile, one of Tacha’s followers said that she works for her money, unlike some persons.

Adeyemi wrote, ‘’I give it to Tacha tho, work and show it so nobody can say her money is from married men.

Tacha replied, ‘’Can’t be.’’

The rich lifestyle of Maria has been said to have been financed by the husband of Cubana Chief priest’s sister. The husband has been identified by the name, Kelvin.

Jim Iyke advised youths in the South East

Ace actor, Jim Iyke, has advised youths to shun any act of destruction on the South East region. He made this statement in Owerri, Imo State during Social Media Fest program. He said, ‘’We can amplify our voices in so many ways instead of killing ourselves. Don’t forget this destruction is not outside of Igbo land, it is inside our land. We are killing ourselves by ourselves. A house fighting itself in the same house will only collapse.’’ He added that the marginalization of the region caused the banditry in the land.

The convener of the program, Excel Ajah, also spoke about the positive effect of the event. He said, ‘’The excellence of the Social Media Fest program is to change the narrative about Owerri and south East. We want to tell the world that beyond the negative things you hear about us, we are tremendously blessed with a lot of potentials and talents.’’

Biyi Bandele to direct ‘’Death and the King’s Horseman’’

The film adaptation of Prof. Wole Soyinka’s novel, ‘’Death and the King’s Horseman is set to begin. Novelist and director, Biyi Bandele, will be directing the film. Bandele is notable for directing the movie, ‘’Half of a Yellow Sun,’’ the film adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s book.

The movie will be produced by EbonyLIfe. The boss of EbonyLife, Mo Abudu, made a post on her Instagram page to this effect on Tuesday. She said, ‘’We started with Castle & Castle 2. We then went on to Chief Daddy 2, then recently announced Blood Sisters. And yesterday, we started principal photography on something very dear and special – Death and the King’s Horseman.

‘’Death and the King’s Horseman is a play by Professor Wole Soyinka based on a real incident that took place in Nigeria during the colonial era: the horseman of a Yoruba king was prevented from committing ritual suicide by the colonial authorities. It has been a lot of work bringing this particular project to life because it is a project piece set in Nigeria in the 1940s.’’

The co-producers of this film are Judith Audu, Adeola Osunkojo, Heidi Uys, James Amuta. The Director of Photography is Lance Gewer.
