Nollywood star Jim Iyke has addressed the reactions that followed his emotional birthday tribute to fellow actor Kate Henshaw earlier this month.
In a recent interview, Iyke clarified that the message was not intended to spark romantic speculation or impress anyone. Rather, it was a heartfelt acknowledgment of the deep-rooted friendship he shares with Kate Henshaw, a bond that spans more than two decades.
Describing their relationship, Jim referred to Kate as “his boy”, a term he used to convey the depth of trust and emotional openness they enjoy. He explained that theirs is a friendship where honesty thrives without fear of judgment.
“There’s nothing sexual about it,” he said. “This is someone I can speak my truth to and get honest advice from. It’s just a genuine friendship.”

Jim also responded to the public’s varying interpretations of his message, saying many people often project their own assumptions onto such expressions.
“People catapulted it into realms that had nothing to do with it,” he said.
He ended by making it clear that he owes no one an explanation and lives life on his own terms. “I spoke as only I can speak. However you interpret it, it’s entirely your business.”
