The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has granted waivers to former Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, and former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, clearing their path to contest senatorial seats under the partyโs platform in 2027.
The waivers pave the way for both politicians to contest the Delta Central and Delta North Senatorial districts respectively, following their recent departure from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Omo-Agege, who resigned from the APC six days earlier, formally joined the NDC on Thursday.

He said he decided what he described as weeks of reflection and wide consultations, citing the need for a more people-focused platform committed to accountability and true federalism.
In a statement issued by the NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, the party welcomed both politicians and assured them of a fair and inclusive political environment.

โThe leadership of the party noted that the decision to grant the waivers was taken in recognition of their political experience, leadership capacity, and commitment to democratic ideals, good governance, and service to the people,โ the statement said.
Party structure The NDC said it was confident that the entry of Omo-Agege and Ochei would strengthen its grassroots presence in Delta State ahead of the 2027 elections.
It further stated that both men possessed the experience, political structure and support base required to deliver effective representation to their constituents.
