NRTC WEEKLY gathered that the devaluation had provoked public outrage, with citizens expressing frustration over rising prices of essential goods and services— many lament the increased cost of living, finding it more difficult to afford necessities.

Our (NRTC WEEKLY) findings showed that business owners and importers also express apprehension over the impact on their operations, potentially leading to inflation and reduced consumer purchasing power.

Leading stories: Are Nigerians forgetting the Mohbad case so soon?

The call for justice following the passing of singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, appears to have dwindled recently, as per NRTC WEEKLY’s latest observations. Mohbad’s demise triggered a wave of controversy within the music industry, largely revolving around allegations against his former boss, Naira Marley, and promoter, Sam Larry.

Despite the Lagos State Police Command’s disclosure of crucial information related to the circumstances of the singer’s passing, public attention has gradually shifted away from the issue.

It’s worth noting that the case of Mohbad is not an isolated incident, as online communities tend to prioritize newer and more trending topics. Our investigation also revealed that discussions surrounding the late singer have ceased to dominate social media platforms.

The body of the late singer, currently housed in the morgue, was retrieved for an autopsy, and the public awaits the results, which are expected to elicit further reactions. NRTC WEEKLY speculates that the relative lack of response to the singer’s case may stem from the public’s anticipation of the autopsy findings, guiding them in determining the appropriate course of action.

Politics: Tinubu’s Chicago certificate, Obi, Atiku fumes

A few weeks ago, the Election Petitions Tribunal upheld President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory as the duly elected President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, dismissing the claims of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as well as the Labour Party (LP) and Peter Obi.

According to NRTC WEEKLY, the judgment was well-received by Nigerians, yet deeply contested by Tinubu’s challengers. Atiku and Obi accused Tinubu of submitting a forged certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The judgment to Nigerians was a good one but to his challengers, it was not, leading to Atiku and Obi accusing Tinubu of forging a certificate he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that the duo went further to challenge Tinubu’s Chicago University certificate. They said he didn’t attend any Chicago State University but went there to collect a certificate.

They further accused President Tinubu of carrying a certificate that bears someone’s name, leading to them calling on him to mount a podium and declare to Nigerians his real identity.

They said it tarnishes the country’s image for a president not to know his identity but the All Progressive Congress, APC, fired back at the duo beseeching them to let the president concentrate on his government.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that APC handed advice to PDP, LP, and its angry contestants to strategize for the next election and accept defeat.

Sport: Saudi Arabia draws Super Eagle late following poor goalkeeper performance

Nigerians have berated the national team’s [Super Eagle] draw with Saudi Arabia yesterday. In a range of emotional reactions across the country, the Super Eagle goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho was alleged to have been the mastermind behind the 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia because of his inability to punch out two free kicks that were converted to goals.

Faulting the Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho for misjudging Saudi Arabia’s corner kick that led to their opening goal, Nigerians called on the coach, Jose Peseiro not to call the goalkeeper up for the upcoming African Cup of Nation (AFCON) competition.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that the goalkeeper was responsible for the elimination of the Super Eagle from the last AFCON following his inability to save a free kick from Riyad Mahrez of Algeria.

The Green Falcons took an early lead at the hour-mark after Uzoho mishandled a corner kick but Nigeria leveled parity through Abdulelah Al-Amri’s own goal before Kelechi Iheanacho gave them the lead with a finish from just inside the box.

However, Saudi Arabia grabbed a late equalizer in the game in the 100th minute of the encounter, with Mohammaed Kanno smashing home a free-kick.

Super Eagle will now play Mozambique in another friendly match on Monday as the team prepares for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, NRTC WEEKLY gathered.

Nigerians urged Pesiro that keeping Uzoho won’t take them anywhere in major competition because they will concede in a way that will be too costly for knockout stages.

Nigerians known for their passion for football were disappointed and frustrated with Uzoho, leading to them taking to social media platforms, sports forums, and discussions to express their disappointment, critique the team’s performance, and discuss what went wrong.
