Priscilla Ojo slams viral post claiming she trivialised postpartum depression

Nigerian influencer and entrepreneur Priscilla Ojo has shut down a viral claim circulating on X (formerly Twitter) that accused her of describing postpartum depression as an “illusion caused by poverty.”

The controversy stemmed from a widely shared post alleging that Priscilla, while speaking about life after childbirth, said she never experienced postpartum depression and that her love for her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, deepened after the birth of their son.

The post went further to attribute the controversial statement on maternal mental health to her, sparking outrage and backlash online.

Furthermore, Priscilla was quick to address the situation publicly, showing how she handled the rumors directly.

Reacting to the allegation via Snapchat, Priscilla denied making such remarks, calling out the spread of misinformation.

While using her platform, Priscilla made it clear she wished to set the record straight.

“I never said this. What’s wrong with Twitter people? Be ready to provide evidence!” she wrote.

As of now, no video, audio recording, or written transcript has surfaced to back up the claim.

In a twist, the original poster later admitted that Priscilla “didn’t actually put it like that,” even as the misleading narrative continued to gain traction online.

Meanwhile, Priscilla continues to remain vocal about addressing misinformation related to her statements.

The incident has once again highlighted the dangers of misinformation on social media, particularly when it involves sensitive topics like maternal mental health, an issue that affects millions of women worldwide.

Priscilla serves as yet another example of how public figures are impacted.
