Veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade has spoken against the growing pressure on actors to dance on social media as part of promoting their films.
The thespian said the practice takes away professionalism from the industry.
During an interview on TVC Entertainment, the actress explained that although she enjoys dancing, it should never be forced on actors as a marketing tool.
She said movie promotion should be a choice, not an obligation tied to viral trends.
Omotola noted that many actors now face backlash because they are pushed to perform online stunts just to attract attention to their work.
She pointed out that there is a big difference between willingly promoting a film and being pressured into doing things that have nothing to do with acting.

She stated that her main duty as an actress is to deliver her role in a movie and speak about the project when needed.
According to her, the task of marketing and advertising films should be handled by trained professionals responsible for distribution, not placed entirely on actors.
The actress added that forcing performers to dance or create viral content for promotion shifts attention away from the actual creative work and weakens standards in the film industry.
“I’m sorry, but I won’t be dancing to market or promote my movie. It’s not professional. I’ve done the movie, now I just have to go around and promote it,” she said.
Omotola made the remarks while speaking ahead of her upcoming cinema project, Mother’s Love, which is set for release in March.
Omotola Jalade is one of Nollywood’s most respected actresses, with a career spanning over three decades.
