Leon Balogun has penned an emotional farewell to Rangers Football Club, bringing the curtain down on two remarkable spells with the club.
In a heartfelt message shared with fans, the Nigerian international expressed how representing the club – not once, but twice – has been a profound honour and privilege.
The 36-year-old defender departed in summer 2022 after helping Rangers win the title in his first two-year stint. He then returned 12 months later and has made 49 appearances in his second spell.
Although his time with the Scottish giants included both “highs and tough periods,” Balogun emphasised that it was the challenges that deepened his connection to the club.

He noted that the real magic of Rangers lies not only in the institution itself, but in the unwavering support and loyalty of its people – the fans, staff, and everyone who contributes behind the scenes.

Throughout the message, the Nigerian paid glowing tribute to the supporters who cheered the team every week. He acknowledged their relentless passion, their expectations, and their role in pushing the players to strive for excellence.
Balogun admitted he wasn’t given the chance to bid farewell on the pitch during the season’s final games. He stated he wished he could have walked around Ibrox one last time to return the love. His absence from that moment, he said, left a tinge of sadness.
However, Balogun assured Rangers supporters that while he may be leaving, he won’t be a stranger. Grateful for the warmth and acceptance shown to him at every turn, Balogun reflected that Rangers had become more than just a football club to him – they had become family. And for that, he said, he would remain eternally thankful.
With a sincere sign-off, he wished all the best to the fans, leaving the door open for a future return.
