The Federal Government has dismissed claims that patients in the Northwest are excluded from its subsidised kidney dialysis programme.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare explained that the subsidy scheme is already running in 11 federal tertiary hospitals nationwide.
The clarification followed reports alleging that the Northwest region was not included in the initiative.
The ministry’s Deputy Director and Head of Information and Public Relations, Alaba Balogun, signed the statement.
“Under the scheme, the cost of a dialysis session has been reduced from ₦50,000 to ₦12,000. This initiative, driven by the Renewed Hope Agenda, is part of the administration’s deliberate effort to provide relief for patients with kidney-related diseases while expanding access to universal health coverage,” he said.
