Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has called for closer subnational partnerships between Ghana and Nigeria to foster mutually beneficial development.
The governor made this appeal during a closed-door meeting with President John Mahama at his residence in Accra, following his inauguration as President of Ghana.
Adeleke praised the long-standing historical ties between the two West African nations and emphasized the need to deepen collaboration beyond national governments.
He congratulated Mahama on his assumption of office and commended President Bola Tinubu for his outstanding representation at the inauguration.
He urged that the relationship between the two nations be elevated to include subnational partnerships.

Adeleke proposed that the Ghana-Nigeria Commission play a pivotal role in fostering cooperation between state and regional governments, which he believes will enhance developmental collaboration.
āWe rejoice with the people of Ghana and eagerly anticipate new opportunities for partnerships between regional and local governments across both nations. Osun is open to commercial and cultural relationships that will bring mutual benefits to our people,ā he added.
