Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has presented the Staff of Office to the new Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup.
The ceremony, held yesterday in Ilesa, marked a significant moment in the history of Ijeshaland as the new monarch was also named the Deputy Chairman of the Osun State Council of Obas.
Governor Adeleke, in his address, urged the new monarch to prioritise unity and development in his reign.
āNow that the time of competition is over, you have become the father of all. I urge you to rally all citizens of Ijeshaland for the progress of the area and the state at large,ā Adeleke said.
Highlighting his administrationās achievements in Ijeshaland over the last two years, the governor emphasised ongoing developmental projects, including the construction of a dual carriageway in Ilesa, a first in the townās history.
He called for continued support and collaboration from the people to accelerate the stateās growth.
The new Owa Obokun, Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, accepted his role as the 41st Owa Obokun Adimula and paramount ruler of Ijeshaland with gratitude and a commitment to lead with wisdom, justice, and compassion.
āI vow to protect our land, defend our traditions, and promote peace, prosperity, and happiness for all,ā the monarch pledged.

He also promised to leverage his extensive network and experience to drive development in Ijeshaland.
During the ceremony, Oba Haastrup announced the appointments of Lateef Bakare, a distinguished industrialist, as the Asiwaju of Ijeshaland, and retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Taiwo Lakanu, as the Gbobaniyi of Ijeshaland.
The event was attended by prominent traditional rulers and dignitaries, including the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi; and the Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji.
Also present were members of the state executive council, political leaders, and notable sons and daughters of Ijeshaland.
