Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso has lauded Jude Bellingham, labelling him as “one of the most complete players in the world” after the midfielder scored his first goal of the season in a narrow 1-0 win over Juventus in the Champions League.
Bellingham’s campaign had been troubled. Before the Juve match, he had featured in just seven matches and scored none after recovering from shoulder surgery this summer. Then, in a key second-half moment, he stabbed home a rebound following Vinícius Júnior’s shot off the post, breaking his drought and keeping Madrid’s perfect group record alive.

Alonso felt the young Englishman’s performance went beyond the goal. “He’s giving such good sensations with how competitive he is and how he creates dangerous situations,” the coach said. “He’s got the skill and instincts… but he’s a box-to-box player too.”
Meanwhile, Madrid’s home victory wasn’t effortless. Juventus began brightly and forced Thibaut Courtois into several early saves, yet the hosts dominated possession and peppered the Italian goal late in the game.

This moment might well be Bellingham’s turning point. Since joining Madrid in 2023, he’s scored 23 goals and notched 13 assists, plus helped the club to La Liga and Champions League honours. But this season, recovery from surgery disrupted his rhythm and left him on the sidelines.
As Real Madrid now look ahead to a high-stakes clash at Anfield on November 4, they must be feeling confident. Bellingham’s return to form — and Alonso’s unwavering faith — could mean the return of a player who once dominated from box to box and seemed unstoppable.
There is no doubt that whenever Bellingham is fit and firing, Madrid believe they have a genuine computing powerhouse in midfield again.
