Biodun Stephen addresses symbiotic relationship with leading Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson (NRTC EXCLUSIVE)

In an exclusive interview with News Round The Clock (NRTC), leading Nigerian moviemaker, Biodun Stephen has spoken about her symbiotic and professional relationship with popular Nollywood actor, Timini Egbuson. The talented 36-year-old actor has been described as one of the most ‘enthralling’ figures to watch on the television in modern times by pundits and movie critics.

During the session with NRTC, Mrs Stephen disclosed how Timini’s performance in her project redefined his career and perception among pundits and critics. Additionally, his performance alongside his co-actor, Bimbo Ademoye were instrumental in pulsating the success of Breaded Life on a global scene.

Timini Egbuson played the lead character, Summy in the Biodun Stephen’s 2021 romcom.

Specifically, Breaded Life looks at the reality of an irresponsible young man in conflict with his mother wakes up one day and to his surprise, no-one he knows can recognize him, except for a local bread hawker.

Speaking during the conversation with NRTC, the leading Nigerian cinematographer acknowledged Timini’s talent and professionalism. Equally, in case you missed the earlier parts of NRTC’s interview session with the Sista and Joba movie director check them out below:

Timini Prior To The Breaded Life…

In the early part of the 2010s, Timini Egbuson played the role of Tobi, a university student in the MTV television series, Shuga Naija. Soon after, he quickly became one of the most endearing modern day thespians. He quickly became renowned for featuring as a playboy or lover boy in majority of Nollywood releases.

Though he often plays the role of a Casanova to perfection, he quickly became a stereotypical “lover”, speaking about how she perceived his onscreen personality, Biodun Stephen mentioned that she “didn’t take him too serious initially, though he is talented.”

Mrs Stephen stated that she met Egbuson on a movie set prior to the production of Breaded Life and she explained her expectation of the Nollywood superstar.

Talking about the success of Breaded Life, Biodun Stephen noted that it is courtesy of the depth and willingness to mettle for excellence by the lead actor that made the movie attain it’s prominence at the time.

Timini was already popular prior to the release of Breaded Life, however, it was after this movie that people began to take him more seriously,” Biodun Stephen stated.

She continued, “he was willing to do just everything and anything to sought of just prove that he can act.

Breaded Life was able to bring out his depth- like this guy can act,” she added. “He put in the work, just as I put in the work so that can be successful and I am glad the world accepted it,” the foremost cinematographer concluded.

A Backstory To Breaded Life

Breaded Life isn’t just a rom-comedy movies, it encompasses life lessons and how things could evolve within a twinkle of an eye.

Shot in the heart of Agege, Lagos state, Biodun Stephen while speaking with NRTC mentioned that the Breaded Life storyline was primarily inspired by a privileged family she used to know while growing up.

Though Timini’s character, Summy (otherwise known as Freshboy Sumi) awoke from his slumber in the movie, the initial family that inspired Biodun Stephen to write the script have since fallen into perilous times.

Breaded Life is drawn from watching some privileged kids in Agege and how they squandered the wealth they had,” Biodun Stephen revealed.

She went further to state, “the story was inspired by the owners of the bakery we shopped.”

There were six of them, but the kids never got an education because they thought the money would keep coming forever,” she added.

Biodun Stephen went on to say, “meanwhile, we (her family) didn’t have anything, I just aspired to one day wear jeans like the rich kids, however, they never got an education, which my mother ensured I did.”

An Essential Message To Parents…

Biodun Stephen mentioned during the interview that she admonished parents to counsel and guide the decisions of their offspring. She disclosed that her mother made sure she had the best of education and pursued a career that would aid her through her journey in life.

Equally, the 2021 blockbuster movie stars MC Lively, Bisola Aiyeola, Timini Egbuson, Bimbo Ademoye, Bolanle Ninalowo and Adedimeji Lateef.

The production is a collaboration between Shutterspeed project and David Wade. The filming lasted 16 days. The production team had to deal with Area Boys (touts) while filming at Agege Market.
