Liverpool and Portugal have been plunged into mourning following the sudden and tragic death of Diogo Jota, who passed away in a car crash at the age of 28.
The accident, which also claimed the life of his younger brother, Andre Silva, occurred in the early hours of Thursday in Zamora, Spain.
According to the Spanish Guardia Civil, the incident happened around 00:30 local time when the brothers’ Lamborghini reportedly suffered a tyre blow-out while overtaking another vehicle. The car veered off the road and caught fire, leaving no chance of survival for either Jota or his sibling.

26-year-old Andre, like his brother, was a professional footballer and played for Portuguese second-tier side Penafiel. The bond between them was not only personal but professional, with both having dedicated their lives to football. Their shared journey has now ended in a devastating loss that has rocked the football world.
