How I got my stage name – Odumodublvck

Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, better known as Odumodublvck, has shared how his famous stage name came from an unexpected childhood experience.

In an interview with BET Network, the rapper said the name “Odumodu,” which means masquerade, was first used to mock him when he tried to frighten someone as a child.

The teasing nickname later stuck and spread among his schoolmates.

He explained that the name gained even more attention when his mother visited his school, and people began calling her “Odumodu’s mom.”

That moment, he said, made him embrace the name completely as he started making music.

Before adopting the name Odumodublvck, the rapper went by “T Flows,” a name he later dropped because it felt too common.

He said he wanted something distinct that would make him stand out in the industry.

Odumodublvck revealed that his friends laughed when he first announced the name, but he decided to keep it because of how rare it sounded.

According to him, his decision made him unique and shaped his identity as an artiste known worldwide today.

He said: “Odumodu means masquerade. I tried to scare someone and he called me that name. I was like, ‘No, don’t call me that.’ You know it’s that name you don’t want to be called.”

“One day my mom came to visit me in school and they were like, ‘Yo, Odumodu’s mom is around,’ and she’s like, ‘who’s that?’ And I’m like, ‘that’s what it is.’ Then I started making music.”

“The name I had first was T Flows — whack name. There are probably like a hundred thousand T Flows in the world, but there’s only one Odumodublvck.”

“When I told my friends that my name’s going to be Odumodu Blvck, they started laughing. I said, ‘yes, that’s the point. That’s the name.’ If I didn’t bear that name till the end of the world, there would never have been another Odumodublvck.”
