International games review

Another set of internationl matches has been played for your enjoyment.

Below is a reviw of the ones top ones.

FRANCE VS IVORY COAST

Coast’s Pepe grabs early lead over France as he beats the keeper on his near post to take a 1-0 lead over France.

Olivier Giroud defied the doubters again as he marked his France comeback by scoring his 47th international goal when the world champions beat Ivory Coast 2-1 in a friendly on Friday.

Giroud, who had not been called up since his country was knocked out in the last 16 of the European Championship last year, cancelled out Nicolas Pepe’s opener to move four goals shy of Thierry Henry’s all-time France scoring record before Aurelie Tchouameni wrapped up the win in stoppage time. A late Aurelien Tchouameni goal grabbed a 2-1 win for France against Ivory Coast in Marseille.
Ivory Coast will now travel to England for another friendly on Tuesday, while France will face South Africa on the same evening.

REP IRE VS BELGIUM

Republic of Ireland twice fought from behind to earn a thrilling draw with Belgium in Dublin as Stephen Kenny’s side stretched their unbeaten run to seven games.

Michy Batshuayi – making his 40th international appearance – quickly dampened the party atmosphere, opening the scoring after 12 minutes with a splendid solo effort.

Belgium continued to boss the game but 10 minutes before half-time Ireland levelled with a piece of magic of their own.

Thorgan Hazard’s delivery found the unmarked Hans Vanaken, he helped it goal wards and it took a deflection before hitting the back of the net.

It took Ireland a good 20 minutes to play their way back into the game, which resulted in a period of pressure that eventually led to the equalising goal from Ogbene.

ENGLAND VS SWITZERLAND

Harry Kane moved level second with Sir Bobby Charlton in the all-time England scoring charts as he registered his 49th international goal from the penalty to seal the Three Lions’ victory 12 minutes from time.

Luke Shaw’s fierce drive (45+1) had seen England recover from an underwhelming first-half display in which Breel Embolo headed the visitors in front (22) and Switzerland struck the woodwork on two occasions.

The victory extends England’s unbeaten run to a record-breaking 21 matches – the longest run in the national team’s history – laying the ideal foundations as Gareth Southgate’s side bid to go one step further in a major tournament at this year’s World Cup in Qatar.

SPAIN VS ALBANIA

Spain’s Dani Olmo struck a stunning goal in added time to snatch a 2-1 victory against Albania in a friendly on Saturday before a passionate crowd in La Roja’s first game in Catalonia in 18 years.

Roared on at nearly packed Cornella-El Prat stadium, last year’s Euro semifinalists dominated from the start but had to wait until the 75th minute to open the scoring as Ferran Torres finished from close range from a pass by substitute Yeremy. But a few minutes later Myrto Uzuni equalised with Albania’s only shot on target helped by a deflection off of Eric Garcia’s face.

As the game looked to be heading for a draw, Olmo received a short pass from Jordi Alba and curled a shot into the top corner from the edge of the box.
