Joeboy blames ego for weak music collaborations

He explained that many artistes now enter collaborations with a competitive attitude instead of focusing on making good music. According to him, this often leads to tension and reduces the quality of joint projects.

Joeboy noted that he finds it easier to work with people he already has a friendly relationship with, as it reduces misunderstandings during studio sessions. He also shared that when he brings another artist on a track, he is not trying to compete with them.

He said he expects the featured artiste to deliver their best performance, even if it stands out more than his own part, because the goal is a stronger song.

“It is easier for me to collaborate with artists that I am cool with or friends with. Because there will be no ego or inner competition. Personally, if I feature you, I expect you to outshine me in the song. That is why I featured you. So, I donโ€™t get the competition,โ€ he said.
