“Nollywood has lost a rare gem, but your legacy will continue to live on in the stories you told, through the roles you brought to life and the memories we shared. May your soul find eternal rest and may God grant your families and loved ones the fortitude to bear their loss. Sleep well Tom, God loves you more.”

Tom Njemanze reportedly died on Friday, July 18, in Owerri, Imo State. Prior to his passing, filmmaker Stanley Ontop had appealed to the public and the film community for financial support to aid Njemanze’s medical care.

Until his death, Njemanze was undergoing treatment for prostate cancer, a condition that prompted concern and solidarity from colleagues within the Nigerian film industry.
