Middle East tensions escalated amid US support, Gaza crisis

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that tensions in the Middle East escalated, drawing intense scrutiny on US foreign policy under President Donald Trump. Reports confirmed that military forces used American-made bombs in operations inside Iran, while hostilities in Gaza raged on.

The United States actively provided military aid to Israel, signalling a clear departure from Trump’s earlier campaign promises to steer clear of foreign conflicts.

In Gaza, the humanitarian crisis worsened dramatically. Dozens of Palestinian civilians lost their lives while waiting for aid deliveries, underscoring the dire conditions on the ground.

To make matters worse, a massive internet and phone blackout crippled humanitarian organisations, severely obstructing relief efforts and cutting off vital communication channels.

Amid the turmoil, Hamas expressed a ‘positive spirit’ regarding a US-backed ceasefire proposal for Gaza, offering a slim but notable hope for de-escalation in the drawn-out conflict.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Kyiv endured its most intense missile and drone bombardment since the onset of the war, surviving a relentless seven-hour assault.

The large-scale attack devastated multiple districts, leaving significant destruction in its wake and injuring at least 23 people.

The brutal offensive came shortly after reports surfaced that President Trump had spoken directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

During their conversation, Putin allegedly reaffirmed Russia’s determination to pursue its strategic goals in the war.

The timing of the attack raised pressing questions about its diplomatic consequences and the potential direction of the ongoing conflict.

The industrial action triggered mass flight delays and cancellations, creating ripple effects throughout the continent’s aviation network.

Major airlines, including Ryanair, publicly adjusted their schedules, affecting tens of thousands of passengers.

Authorities issued warnings about prolonged delays at French airports, forcing many travellers to reconsider their plans.

The disruption highlighted the fragility of Europe’s interconnected airspace when localised labour disputes arise.

The strike underscored just how crucial air traffic controllers are in maintaining seamless air travel across Europe.

Deadly flash floods swept through Central Texas after relentless rainfall inundated the region, NRTC WEEKLY learnt.

The disaster claimed at least 24 lives, while 23 young girl campers tragically remained missing, prompting urgent search and rescue efforts.

Overnight, the Guadalupe River rose dangerously after more than 10 inches of rain fell in a short span, sending floodwaters surging across the area.

Heartbroken families pleaded desperately for updates on their missing loved ones as emergency crews raced against time and treacherous conditions to locate survivors and assess the full scale of the catastrophe.

Thomas Partey faced rape charges in UK

UK authorities formally charged Ghanaian international footballer and former Arsenal star Thomas Partey with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, NRTC WEEKLY gathered.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the charges stemmed from complaints filed by three women, relating to alleged incidents that took place between 2021 and 2022.Police began investigating Partey in February 2022, shortly after the first complaint.

Partey’s legal team strongly denied the allegations, maintaining that he fully cooperated with the police and the Crown Prosecution Service throughout the three-year investigation.

His lawyers stated that Partey remained determined to clear his name but would not make further comments due to ongoing legal proceedings.

The footballer is scheduled to appear in a central London court on August 5 as the case progresses.
