Additionally, Davido announced that 427 orphanage homes would benefit from donations to be disbursed through The David Adeleke Foundation (DAF).

He shared the names of the beneficiaries on his social media platforms, highlighting that 13,936 children are eligible beneficiaries, while 1,688 are deemed ineligible, a confirmation provided by NRTC WEEKLY.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to assist, the singer received praise from Nigerians and his fans for remembering orphanages during challenging times.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that dignitaries from all walks of life struggled to hold back their tears as they bid farewell to the late governor, alongside family, friends, and associates.

Present at the burial were President Bola Tinubu, represented by his Vice President Kashim Shettima, as well as governors from the southwest and other regions.

Tinubu praised the late Rotimi Akeredolu for his courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment as a fearless champion for his people.

Taking to their social media platforms, Nigerians expressed admiration for Akeredolu’s commitment to serving through democratic means, describing him as an unwavering advocate for his people and wishing him eternal rest.

Leading stories: Customs launches initiative to alleviate food scarcity

To alleviate current food scarcity and hardships, as well as address the increase in commodities, the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has initiated the distribution of seized food items to Nigerians.

According to information gathered by NRTC WEEKLY, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Wale Adeniyi, stated during the flag-off ceremony in Lagos that the Federal Government had ordered the distribution of the seized food items.

Adeniyi mentioned that Customs, in collaboration with other agencies, is working to directly distribute the seized food items to needy Nigerians. However, beneficiaries will need to provide a verifiable National Identification Number (NIN) to qualify for assistance.

In response to this announcement, Nigerians criticised Customs for making NIN mandatory for eligibility in the food distribution programme.

They argued that many individuals without NIN are suffering from hunger, while Customs has made it a prerequisite.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that they urged the service to reconsider this requirement to allow all those experiencing hardship to participate, as the situation becomes increasingly dire.

Business: Economic hardship hit harder on Nigerians

Nigerians grapple with deepening economic woes, marked by soaring food prices and stagnant wages.

NRTC WEEKLY gathered that this has translated to increased hunger, with many families struggling to afford necessities.

Frustration is palpable, as evidenced by protests erupting in major cities. Critics denounce the government’s slow response, urging immediate action to address the escalating food insecurity crisis.

Many on their social media called on President Tinubu and others to find a lasting solution to the problem.
