Omoborty calls out colleagues for lack of support in film promotions

Nollywood actress Omoborty has spoken out about what she calls troubling behaviour among some colleagues in the film industry regarding support and promotion of movies.

She raised concerns over actors who participate in films but avoid helping with publicity once the project is complete, saying such actions are unfair to producers and others who invest time and money.

In a post on Instagram, Omoborty also addressed actors who hesitate to support fellow industry members, even when doing so requires little effort.

She shared that she has promoted several movies she was not part of because she believes giving support should be natural and free.

The actress added that envy and poor character sometimes make people view another person’s achievements as a threat rather than motivation.

She said this attitude prevents some from offering help or celebrating the success of others.

She wrote: She wrote, “I WANT TO ADDRESS TWO CATEGORIES OF PEOPLE IN MY INDUSTRY. FIRST, ACTORS WHO FEATURE IN MOVIES BUT MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO SUPPORT THE PRODUCER WHEN IT IS TIME FOR PROMOTION. YOU PEOPLE ARE NOT GOD O. ALL YOU ARE SHOWING IS HOW WICKED AND UNSUPPORTIVE YOU CAN BE.

“SECOND, SOME COLLEAGUES WHO ARE EXTREMELY STINGY WITH SUPPORT. WITH MY FULL CHEST, I CAN CONFIDENTLY SAY I HAVE PROMOTED MANY MOVIES I DID NOT EVEN FEATURE IN. I DID IT WILLINGLY BECAUSE SUPPORT COSTS NOTHING.

“BUT SOME OF YOU ARE SO FULL OF HATE, ENVY, AND IWA OSHI THAT SUPPORTING OTHERS FEELS LIKE A BURDEN TO YOU. YOU SEE ANOTHER PERSON’S PROGRESS AS A THREAT INSTEAD OF INSPIRATION.”
