The Ondo State Government has ordered all contractors handling the rehabilitation and construction of technical colleges across the state to return to their sites immediately to complete unfinished projects.

The mandate was delivered by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Tayo Oluyi, during a high-level familiarization and sensitization meeting held with project handlers at his office.

Expressing the administration’s dissatisfaction with missed deadlines, Oluyi emphasised that the projects were originally slated for completion last year.

He warned that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has authorized sanctions for any contractor failing to meet the new expedited delivery schedule.

According to the SSA, the government has fulfilled its financial obligations, leaving no room for further delays.

“No excuse is tenable, as the necessary resources have been disbursed. Upon completion, no contractor shall be owed a single dime,” Oluyi declared.

The directive follows an extensive statewide tour conducted by the SSA last year to evaluate progress firsthand.

By combining his field observations with data from the Board’s management team, Oluyi identified several bottlenecks that had previously hindered work.

To ensure a smooth transition back to the field, the state has promised to ensure total cooperation from benefiting communities to prevent local interference.

The governor remains committed to providing industry-standard environments for skilled trade students.

Project Supervisor, Arch. Onibudo Gbenga, urged contractors to prioritize quality alongside speed, ensuring the structures serve the public for years to come.

While the SSA commended those who have already finished their assignments or shown significant progress, he made it clear that “completion” is the only acceptable outcome for the remaining group.

Responding on behalf of the contractors, Yemi Dara thanked the state government for the support provided in resolving past challenges and pledged their maximum cooperation to meet the administration’s goals.

The meeting was attended by Directors from the Board for Adult Technical and Vocational Education and various stakeholders involved in the state’s educational infrastructure overhaul.
