Controversial Nigerian rapper Darlington Okoye, widely known as Speed Darlington, has disclosed that legendary traditional musician Damian Azubike Nwankwo Okoye, popularly called Pericoma, was not his biological father.
The rapper made this revelation during a recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he explained that his mother, renowned singer Queen Achakpo, had him before she married the late music icon.
Despite not being biologically related, Speed Darlington noted that he was raised in Pericoma’s home and enjoyed the same care and treatment as the musician’s other children.

Sharing details of his upbringing, he said, “Pericoma is my stepfather. I grew up in his house. I was on the cover of one of his albums along with my two half-brothers. I was very young when I went to his house; I was probably nine.”
He further described Pericoma as a kind and welcoming figure, dismissing popular superstitions that often painted the late traditional music legend as frightening.
