Shun cybercrime, Olukoyede tells youths at youth against crime festival

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has charged Nigerian youths, imploring them to embrace integrity and actively steer clear of cyber fraud and other social vices.

The call was made during the Youth Against Crime Festival held at the Government Girls Secondary School in Abaji, Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking through the Commission’s Head of Enlightenment and Reorientation, Assistant Commander of the EFCC (ACE 11) Aisha Muhammed the EFCC boss underscored the significant dangers associated with cybercrime.

He stressed the necessity for young Nigerians to prioritize honesty and hard work as the true pathway to genuine success.

“Say no to cybercrime, no to stealing, no to lying and say no to examination malpractice and stand for integrity”, Olukoyede urged.

He noted that the EFCC’s continuous engagement with youth groups and its school-based initiatives are critical for raising awareness against unethical financial practices and discouraging youth involvement in them.

He emphasised the crucial role of youth as future leaders, whose decisions today will ultimately determine the country’s tomorrow.

According to the EFCC boss, these initiatives allow the Commission to effectively drive its preventive mandate in the fight against corruption and economic and financial crimes down to the youth population.

Tayo Folorunsho, the event organizer, described the festival as vital for nation-building, highlighting that such engagements are key to fostering unity and moral development among young Nigerians.

In a related address, the Area Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ahmed Abdulqadir, seized the opportunity to caution the youths against the dangers of drug abuse.
