The Oyo State Police Command has apprehended a 49-year-old man, Peter Adubi, for the alleged defilement of a 13-year-old girl.
The arrest, which took place following a report filed on January 8, 2026, brings to light a harrowing case of abuse that reportedly began years ago.
The breakthrough in the case came after the minor’s guardian noticed “strange and unusual behavioral changes” of a sexual nature in the young girl.
Upon gentle questioning, the 13-year-old survivor revealed that she had been sexually abused in 2022 while residing with her mother in the Molade area of Ibadan.

Adubi was immediately taken into police custody following the incident. Detectives also visited the alleged scene of the crime in the Molade area to carry out preliminary investigations.
Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Gender Desk, for a more discreet and specialised probe.
The Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, praised the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, noting that the Command remains inspired to protect the most vulnerable members of society.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, reaffirmed in an official statement that justice will be “diligently pursued” to ensure the perpetrator faces the full weight of the law.
