‎Mainoo signs new Manchester United deal until 2031

Manchester United have announced that midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new long‑term contract, keeping him at Old Trafford until June 2031.

The club said in a statement on Thursday, 30 April that the Stockport‑born midfielder is one of the best talents of his generation.

He joined the club’s academy in 2014 at the age of six and has already made 98 senior appearances, scoring the decisive goal in the 2024 FA Cup final and representing England in the Euro 2024 final.

“Manchester United has always been my home; this special club means everything to my family,” Mainoo said.

He added that growing up, he witnessed the impact United has on the city and relishes the responsibility that comes with wearing the shirt.

Reflecting on his journey, Mainoo explained, “From The Cliff, to Littleton Road, to Carrington and ultimately Old Trafford, the journey so far has been incredible. I have the privilege of living my dream every single day, with the same relentless desire to succeed here as when I joined my first training session at the age of six.”

Looking ahead, he noted, “We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead.”

Director of Football Jason Wilcox praised Mainoo as “one of the most naturally gifted young footballers in the world.”

He highlighted the midfielder’s technical ability, professionalism, and humility, describing him as “the perfect role model for our young players and a true credit to our outstanding Academy system.”

In addition, he said the club is delighted Mainoo has extended his stay and expressed confidence that he will develop into one of the best players in the world, ready to play a pivotal role in a United team competing for major honours.

Mainoo’s extension secures one of United’s brightest talents for the next five years, reinforcing the club’s strategy of building around homegrown players.

The 21‑year‑old has already established himself as a key figure under Erik ten Hag, and his new deal is seen as a major boost for the club’s long‑term ambitions.
