Ekiti 2026: Uzodimma rallies APC govs for Oyebanji’s re-election bid

Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), has led a delegation of APC governors to launch Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s second-term campaign.

The flag-off, held at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, turned into a strong show of unity and strength for the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the June 2026 governorship election approaches.

Ahead of the rally, the delegation visited the palace of the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti, Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe Aladesanmi III.

During the visit, Uzodimma praised the working relationship between the Oyebanji administration and traditional rulers, describing it as central to the peace and steady progress recorded in the state.

He noted that mutual respect between government and traditional institutions had helped create a stable environment for development, a model he said reflects the APC’s broader governance philosophy.

Speaking to a large crowd of supporters, Uzodimma endorsed Oyebanji’s re-election, pointing to his administration’s visible infrastructure projects as evidence of effective leadership.

“Governor Oyebanji has shown clear, results-driven leadership, especially in infrastructure development,” he said.

“The people of Ekiti should sustain this progress by returning him to office to continue the work already underway.”

The event stood out for its wide-ranging political support.

Political heavyweight

Among those present were the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, alongside governors such as Uba Sani, Usman Ododo, and Monday Okpebholo.

In a notable show of cross-party alignment, former Ekiti governors — Ayodele Fayose, Kayode Fayemi, and Segun Oni — also lent their voices in support of Oyebanji’s candidacy under the “Ekiti Agenda”.

Responding, Oyebanji expressed appreciation for the show of support, attributing his administration’s achievements to alignment with Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.

He called on voters to turn out in large numbers in June, stressing the need for a decisive mandate to consolidate the gains made over the past three and a half years.
