The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced the accreditation of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
According to the Board, a total of 848 CBT centres across the country are slated for assessment in the exercise, which began on Monday, December 15, 2025.
This was disclosed in JAMB’s Weekly Bulletin released on Monday.
The Registrar of the Board, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, made the disclosure during a virtual meeting involving Chief External Examiners (CEEs), Chief Technical Advisors (CTAs), Zonal Directors, State Coordinators, representatives of the Computer Professionals Association of Nigeria (CPAN), ZITOs, SITOs, PITOs, and other relevant stakeholders.
Professor Oloyede charged members of the accreditation teams to carry out the assignment with diligence, focus, and a high sense of responsibility, noting that their decisions would have long-term consequences.

He described the exercise as a national responsibility and warned against accrediting any centre that fails to meet JAMB’s stipulated standards.
He also advised officials to be security conscious throughout the process, urging them to avoid unnecessary risks and limit movements that could expose them to danger. He assured participants that adequate security measures had been put in place to ensure a safe and hitch-free exercise.
Speaking further, JAMB’s IT Consultant, Mr Damilola Bamiro, explained that only centres that have successfully completed the mandatory automated test for system readiness are eligible for accreditation. He added that only those centres that passed the test would proceed to the physical inspection stage.
Bamiro stated that accreditation teams would closely examine the coverage and configuration of CCTV systems, stressing that they must be hard-wired, use the HIKVision brand with the recommended 16 channels, and have all network switches connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).
Meanwhile, with the accreditation process underway, preparations are in top gear for the commencement of the 2025 UTME registration. Prospective candidates have been advised to begin early preparations for the examination.
