The Ogun State Government has stepped in to support Mufiat Olateju, an Abeokuta-based housewife who recently gave birth to quadruplets at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba.

The intervention formed part of the government’s wider efforts to assist vulnerable families and safeguard the well-being of newborns across the state

Mrs Olateju, already a mother of five, welcomed the four babies on Wednesday, bringing her number of children to nine.

The remarkable birth has drawn attention and goodwill from both the hospital community and the wider public.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Motunrayo Adeleye, led a government delegation to the hospital to offer the family her congratulations.

She assured the mother of the state’s backing, noting that the government would provide both moral and financial support to ease the burden of caring for the newborns.

The delegation was received by the Chief Medical Director of FMC Abeokuta, Dr Titilola Ibiyemi.

During the visit, the Commissioner commended the hospital’s medical team for their professionalism and dedication, which ensured the safe delivery of the babies and the well-being of their mother.

The government also highlighted its immediate plans to support the family, including financial assistance to help manage the increased cost of raising nine children, while reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of women and children in Ogun State.

The government said the gesture reflected its continued commitment to social development and maternal health.

It added that the support was aimed at easing the immediate pressure on the family while celebrating the safe arrival of the quadruplets.
