Abia Warriors appoint Ike Shorunmu as new goalkeepers coach


Abia Warriors have announced the appointment of former Super Eagles goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu as their new goalkeepers coach.

The former Super Eagles player was unveiled by Abia Warriors chairman, John Obuh on Monday.

Obuh, a former Flying Eagles coach, said he decided to go for the veteran because of his “vast experience and antecedents hoping that his addition will be a big influence.”

While speaking, Shorunmu joined the Umuahia-based club based on “personal conviction and expressed confidence that the team will achieve greater success this season.”

The 55-year-old was once goalkeepers trainer at both Enyimba Int’l FC of Aba and Heartland FC of Owerri. He recently served as goalkeepers trainer for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
