Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has broken his silence on the Ademola Lookman saga, insisting the Nigerian forward will be welcomed back once he proves ready to give his full commitment to the club.
La Dea’s campaign has been marred by off-field controversy, with Lookman trying unsuccessfully to engineer a move to Serie A rivals Inter Milan during the summer. His absence from training for two weeks only deepened concerns about his future.
The 27-year-old, who recently represented Nigeria in World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, has since been left out of Atalanta’s squad for both their Serie A clash with Lecce and their heavy Champions League defeat to holders Paris Saint-Germain.
“You must be 100% focused” – Percassi stands firm
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Percassi acknowledged Lookman’s quality but emphasised the importance of professionalism.

“You cannot go back and change the past, so we will focus on the present and future,” he said.
“We all know how good Ademola is, but also that in order to play for Atalanta, you must be 100 per cent focused.”
Although Lookman remains sidelined, Percassi made it clear the door has not been closed. “When he feels ready to do that, we are waiting for him with open arms,” he added.
Lookman’s absence has left fans divided, with some demanding accountability and others urging patience.
