Bashir Ahmad gets served “hot” breakfast

Bashir Ahmad was a former personal assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on new media. He resigned his role to join politics.

The former aide is contesting for the House of Representatives seat representing Albasu, Ajingi and Gaya, Federal constituency, Kano State in the forthcoming elections. He is contesting under the All Progressives Congress’. During the primary elections held last week, Bashir lost his bid to secure the ticket. His opponent, the incumbent Abdullahi Mahmoud Gaya, won the election by a landslide. Gaya garnered 106 votes against Bashir’s 16.

The ex media aide is widely known across social media platforms. He is often referred to as a social media influencer. His reputation could be owed to his controversial takes on trending issues across the nation. During the 2019 elections, he, in a tweet supported the use of brute force by political thugs to alter the outcome of the Kano Gubernatorial elections. He is known to stand alongside bullies on Twitter, shouting their mantras.

Following his defeat, Bashir has since taken to his Facebook feed to call for a fresh election. He claims that thugs were used in favour of the victorious candidate. His post on Facebook reads, “As an aspirant, I left the venue of primary election for Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu Federal Constituency, because of the security of our majority delegates, if want to compete with the best, thugs shouldn’t be part of any election. A dakace mu!”

Whether Bashir will win this fight against the very system he has supported, is unclear. Since the development, Twitter users have created memes about him. He is currently been mocked on Twitter, where he kept mum about the election until this morning.

While some are of the opinion that mocking him will only discourage him, thereby discouraging youth participation in politics. While others, are fully in support of giving him back what he has given to others.

In Naija Twitter-speak, there is enough breakfast to go round.
