Manchester City completes a historic treble winning their first ever Champions League title, beating Inter Milan by 2 goals to 1 in a closely contested final in Instanbul, Turkey.
Most pundits, before the match, predicted a City stroll. But, Inter had other ideas and began by pressing high up the pitch, closing down every blade of grass with high intensity in an energetic first half display that limited the usually fluent Manchester City to a few chances.
City also lost their influential playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne who went off injured in the 35th minute in an under par first half where Simone Inzaghi’s side gave a good account of themselves and could have even nicked a goal if Barrella had been more clinical when he was presented with a chance, thanks to a mix up in the City defence.

Pep Guardiola side began the second half with more intensity but Inter remained resolute and were a threat going forward. Inter had a glorious chance in the 58th minute to go one nil up after a mix up between City goalkeeper, Edison and Manuel Akanji. But Latauro Martinez fluffed his lines.
In the 67th minute, Manchester City’s Rodri scored a sublime goal to put City in front, after benefitting from a pull back from Bernando Silva, after Manuel Akanji ventured forward to release a clever pass to the Portuguese midfielder.
Rodri’s goal was sufficient in the end to win the trophy and complete a historic treble for City who had Edison to thank in the end as Inter Milan went desperately in search of an equaliser.
