Nigeria’s D’Tigress have stormed into the quarter-finals of the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket Championship after edging Mozambique 60–55 in a tense Group D encounter.
The reigning African champions showed much grit to seal their second successive win of the tournament on Monday night in Cote d’Ivoire.
Following their dominant 92–45 victory over Rwanda in the opening game, this latest win further solidifies their title credentials. While their performance against Mozambique was less flamboyant, it only showcased the team’s ability to grind out results under pressure.

As things stand, D’Tigress will now face either Cameroon or Angola in the quarter-finals. Both nations clash in the round of 16 on Wednesday, July 30.

Nonetheless, confidence in the camp remains high as Nigeria chases a record-extending sixth AfroBasket title, with eyes firmly set on the trophy once again.
