Nigerian rapper Olamide Adedeji, widely known as Olamide, has shared that he is not seeking international validation and is focused on staying true to his roots.
During a recent chat with BBC Radio 1Xtra, the YBNL boss explained that identifying and connecting with his audience has always been his key strategy in the music industry.
He said that his goal has never been to change his sound to fit Western standards but to maintain the unique style that defines his artistry.

Olamide stated that he is proud of his background as a Yoruba artiste who raps in his native language.
He added that he is content being recognized as an indigenous rapper, stressing that authenticity and self-acceptance have guided his growth over the years.
The award-winning artiste further expressed confidence that the world will continue to appreciate his music in its natural form as long as he remains true to himself.
He said: “You have to identify your audience. Once you identify your audience, the rest of the world will catch up eventually. So, I have to stay true to myself and no mater where it is, what it is, I mean, in this world, I have to stay true to myself.
“I’m comfortable in my skin. I’m a Naija guy, Yoruba boy, I have H-Factor and all that, and I’m proud about it. You just have to stay true to yourself.”
