Manchester United’s midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has been granted his first England national team call-up by head coach Gareth Southgate.
Previously named as a part of Lee Carsley’s U21 side, the 18-year-old midfielder will now team up with the rest of the squad at St George’s Park for the pending friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.
This deserved call-up comes after an impressive season with the Red devils and most recently a good outing against Liverpool in the FA cup quarter-final.

Over the years, the 6 position has been one the English outfit has been lacking with Jordan Henderson, Kalvin Phillips, Adam Lallana and the rest proving only stop-gap solutions.
At this point, there’s every inclination the stage is set for Kobbie Mainoo to take the spot beside Declan Rice at the base of midfield with Jude Bellingham’s evolved role.
