Bruno Fernandes has been named Manchester United’s Player of the Month for May.
The club captain delivered one goal and two assists in four appearances during an unbeaten final month of the 2025/26 Premier League season. United claimed wins over Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, and Brighton, plus a goalless draw at Sunderland.
Fernandes capped his season in record-breaking fashion. His corner for Patrick Dorgu’s thumping header at the Amex Stadium on the final day was his 21st assist of the league season. That strike moved him past Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne, giving him the outright record for most assists in a single Premier League campaign.

He also scored United’s third goal against Brighton, smashing home after a VAR check overturned an erroneous offside call.
The May award is Fernandes’s third club Player of the Month prize of the 2025/26 season. He previously won in September and March.

This latest honour adds to an already staggering collection. Fernandes has already claimed the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year, United’s Players’ Player of the Year, the FWA Footballer of the Year, and the Premier League Player of the Season. His 21 assists and nine goals in 35 league appearances underpin a season that has changed the individual record books.
The Portuguese midfielder is also the favourite to claim the PFA Player of the Year prize. He won 60 per cent of the fan vote for Matchweek 38’s Player of the Matchweek award, another individual gong added to the pile in recent days.
For Fernandes, the trophies keep coming. The season is over. The honours are not.
