New education ministers assume office, seek support for sector reform


The-Hon.Minister-of-Education-Tahir-Mamman-and-Hon.-Of-state-Yusuf-Sununu-Assumption-

Prof. Tahir Mammam, the recently designated Minister of Education, along with Dr. Yusuf Sununu, who holds the position of Minister of State for Education, have officially assumed duties subsequent to taking their oaths of office administered by President Bola Tinubu on Monday.

The Ministers were welcomed into their positions by Andrew David Adejo, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, as well as various leaders of educational organizations and agencies.

In his statement, Mammam requested the support of the Nigerian populace to help facilitate the anticipated improvements in the education sector.

According to Mammam, ” ā€œIf the education sector is fixed, every other thing will work perfectly in the country since the ministry is the foundation of all.ā€

Prior to being appointed as a minister by President Bola Tinubu, Mamman held the position of Vice-Chancellor at Baze University, and has served as the Director-General at the Nigeria Law School from 2005 to 2013.

Mamman, who received the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 2015, is a member of the Body of Benchers.

The senior attorney obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from Ahmadu Bello University in 1983, followed by attending the Nigerian Law School in 1984, and subsequently obtaining his Master’s degree from the University of Warwick.

However, Sununu, until his appointment, is a medical doctor and has served as a member of the House of Representatives.
